steel, beeswax, Sterno burners
(reflecting pool: wood, water, plastic, india ink)

installation created to illustrate the environmental conditions of a "sick bed".

The bed structure was welded steel, with a series of Sterno flames cradled beneath. Shards of beeswax were scattered the length of the bed structure. As the wax melted, pools of liquid formed, changing the shape of the wax and causing an evolution and volatility in the materials. The sweet, sickly smell of the melted wax in the enclosed space reinforced the concept of variable and uncomfortable conditions... amplified, and hindered, by a confined space.
